KUNI is more than a name—
it’s a love story stitched with purpose and legacy.

KUNI comes from the nickname my Mississippi-born father called my Indian-born mother throughout their life together. Their story began at Rust College, an HBCU that shaped both their paths, and unfolded as a real-life Mississippi Masala romance. But their bond was deeper than love—it was rooted in a shared devotion to education, community, and culture. From students to educators, their journey was defined by purpose and service. KUNI™ honors that legacy—the beauty of Black and South Asian heritage, the pride of HBCUs, and the transformative power of love, learning, and where we come from.
